Road work in and around Fishers is ramping up as we head into the month of April. Plenty of items are on the weekly listing,
Here is the official update for the work week starting Monday, April 7, as provided by the City of Fishers:
As of Monday (3/10), the contractor has begun reconstruction and interchange tie in on the west side of 141st street. To do this work as quickly as possible, this will require 141st St. to be closed on the west side. The closure will be in place from SR37 thru and west of Trade Center Dr. This work will involve new curbs, medians, storm sewer, subgrade treatment and pavement. See business access map here.

I-465 & I-69
Drivers will see an increase in construction along the I-69 corridor in the coming months. This work will focus on reconfiguring the interchange at I-465 and I-69. New ramps will provide direct movements from eastbound I-465 and northbound I-465 to northbound I-69. Binford Blvd. will also be reconstructed to separate local traffic from traffic entering and exiting I-69 and I-465. Access to I-69 from Binford Blvd. will remain open.
Long-Term Closures

- Ramp from northbound Binford Boulevard to I-465 westbound
82nd Street Ramps
- Ramp from I-69 South to 82nd Street is now open

136TH STREET WIDENING – ROAD CLOSURE
Beginning on Tuesday, April 1, 136th Street between Prairie Baptist Road and Cyntheanne Road will be closed to through traffic as construction begins on the reconstruction of the roadway. Access to all of the homes and fire station off of 136th Street will be maintained only to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will need to follow the attached detour route. Access into Hunters Run and Silverton will be off of Prairie Baptist or Cyntheanne Road. See a map of this closure here.
Beginning on March 14 the contractor will begin setting up for a water line installation, keep an eye out for a restriction on the right turn lane onto Lantern Road. Drivers will still be able to turn right onto Lantern. Please proceed with caution through this intersection.
UTILITY WORK ON SOUTH STREET AND LANTERN ROAD
Please be advised that beginning April 7, the contractor will be closing Lantern Road between 116th and South Street, in order to conduct utilility work in the area for the District South/CityView Developments. This closure is expected to last three days and is weather permitting. See map of closure here.
NICKEL PLATE TRAIL CLOSURE
For installation of the NPT 116th Street tunnel lights and NPT pedestrian trail mural painting, the trail will require closure for the week of April 7. The train platform stairs and the monumental stairs will remain open.
BRIGHTSPEED FIBER INSTALLATION
Brightspeed will be installing fiber throughout the following neighborhoods: Bridger Pines, Bridger Pines West and Arbor Pines. Work will be conducted in the utility easement behind the sidewalk.
96TH STREET AND THE NICKEL PLATE TRAIL
Please look out for intermittant lane restrictions (east and west bound) between Hague road and the entrance to Menards between 9am and 3PM, proceed through the area with caution.
The 96th & Allisonville roundabout is now open and accessible in all directions, making travel smoother and safer at one of the main gateways to our City. Please proceed with caution as this is still an active construction site. Be on the look out for intermittant lane restrictions.
NICKEL PLATE TRAIL AND 82ND ST CLOSURE – INDIANAPOLIS PROJECT
Starting April 7, a closure will be placed on 82nd Street between Craig Street and Castleton Road for Nickel Plate Trail construction. The closure is anticipated to be in place until April 15. Businesses in the area will remain accessible to the public. See detour map here.
The City of Fishers has partnered with the City of Carmel, Clay Township, Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation, Hamilton County, and Delaware Township to connect Heritage Park at White River and Carmel’s Hazel Landing Park with a bridge over White River. This new amenity will provide enhanced connectivity between the two communities, as well as new recreational opportunities for our residents. Click here for an ariel view.
