The weekly road construction report doesn’t have much new material but it is always good to peruse how much construction continues, even as we enter the fall season.

***STATE ROAD 37 AND 141ST STREET – TRAFFIC UPDATE***
As of Monday, September 9 the NB lane of SR37 has been down to one lane to allow for construction of the deep storm sewer.

with SR37 north and southbound lanes remaining open. This closure
will remain in place throughout 2024. Please review detour routes to

I-465 & I-69
Drivers will see an increase in construction along the I-69 corridor in the coming months. This work will focus on reconfiguring the interchange at I-465 and I-69. New ramps will provide direct movements from eastbound I-465 and northbound I-465 to northbound I-69. Binford Blvd. will also be reconstructed to separate local traffic from traffic entering and exiting I-69 and I-465. Access to I-69 from Binford Blvd. will remain open.

141ST AND PRAIRIE LAKES ROUNDABOUT *UPDATE*
Construction crews are working on the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of 141st Street and Prairie Lakes Blvd/Old Oak lane. As of August 19th, the intersection has been closed to through traffic. Access to Woods of Britton apartments will be maintained off of Cumberland Road only during this first phase. The 141st Street access to Prairie Lakes will be closed and access will be off of Cumberland Road and 146th Street. View map here.
- Business Access: Businesses along Mundy Drive remain accessible from SR37 and 141st Street. A right in, right out configuration will continue at the intersection.
- Prairie Lakes Residents: Access your complex via Cumberland Road or 146th Street. Access at 141st Street will be closed.
- Woods of Britton Residents: Access into Woods of Britton apartments will only be from the north through Prairie Lakes Blvd.

The contractor will be working on lighting for this project on the week of October 28, they will be working in the area of North by Northeast and Kincaid Avenue. This project consists of decorative streetlights being installed along 96th Street from North by Northeast Blvd to Cumberland Road. New medians have also been installed along North by Northeast Blvd and Kincaid Blvd with streetlights. Watch out for lane restrictions on North by Northeast to Kincaid Avenue from 9am-3pm. There will be lane restrictions on South Street, between the Nickel Plate Trail and Lantern Road, starting on Wednesday, Sept. 17th to allow for utility installation. Flaggers will be in place to help direct traffic in this area.
ROAD CLOSURE – 96TH STREET AND ALLISONVILLE ROAD INTERSECTION
*TRAFFIC PATTERN UPDATE ON ALLISONVILLE & 96TH ST*
- Northbound traffic on Allisonville Road can continue north or turn east onto 96th Street.
- Southbound traffic on Allisonville Road can continue south or turn west onto 96th Street.
- Eastbound traffic on 96th Street will have a right turn-only option to travel southbound on Allisonville Road.
- Westbound traffic on 96th Street will have a right turn only option to travel northbound on Allisonville Road.
On April 1st,construction began on the 96th St. & Allisonville Rd. Roundabout project This project aims to enhance connectivity along this stretch of the Allisonville Corridor. The existing Michigan Left intersection was eliminated and transitioned to a two-lane roundabout adjacent to the new River Place development. This project is slated to be completed at the end of the year, with minor enhancements completed in the Spring of 2025. We are in constant communication with the County on our traffic signals along 116th Street and working towards accommodating the increased traffic due to this detour. We are aware of the increased volumes due to this project and neighboring ones as well.
