96th & Allisonville Roundabout to be “fully functional” by October of this year

Changes are coming to the traffic pattern at the 96th Street & Allisonville Road construction site, but if all goes as scheduled, the roundabout at that location should be “fully functional” by October of this year.

During a Wednesday afternoon Webinar updating the 96th & Allisonville project, Assistant Fishers City Engineer Tami Houston said the closure of the west end of 96th Street at Allisonville will be completed around July 4th.  The west end will then reopen to traffic and the east side of 96th Street at Allisonville will close July 8.

There will also be construction work at commercial sites near the project, with access to the businesses to continue.  One lane of traffic north and southbound on Allisonville Road will continue to be open during the construction.  Traffic signals near the area of 96th Street and Allisonville will continue to function.

Houston said the roundabout at 96th Street and Allisonville Road will be “fully functional” by October of this year.  However, all the landscaping and grading at that location will not be complete until the spring of 2025.

  1. This is good news. I think people don’t realize that Allisonville in Hamilton county is currently experiencing a tremendous construction load. Once the roundabout at 96th Street is done, I’m hearing that the 116th roundabout which *was* originally slated for this year, is going to start construction around March or April of 2025, which seems like a long time from now, but before you know it, the Kroger will have been constructed by then just north of that intersection. Also at that point, the roundabout at 146th will be about 75% finished, and further north there is already a roundabout at Christian and Allisonville in Noblesville, and the work is slated to begin this summer further north on Allisonville / Main Street and Pleasant. Even further north, Allisonville/Main and Connor is currently under construction and is about to reopen next week. I’m surprised there wasn’t a push to put a roundabout there at this time while they are at it, as that light also gets backed up north/south and east/west. I guess the hope is that once Pleasant Street is completely finished by the end of 2025, that would relieve some pressure on Connor.

  2. I wanted to add that while this blog focuses mainly on Fishers, it is worthy to note that other big cities in Hamilton county like Noblesville, Zionsville and especially Westfield are all experiencing a renaissance. Noblesville is very aggressive in building everywhere in the last few years- the area just north and south of 146th Street east of 37 is about to transform even further as per this blog and other sources. Say what you will about all these happenings, but there apparently is the will and the funding, thus the migration of people to Hamilton county continues

  3. Sorry, I keep thinking always that Zionsville is in Hamilton county – it isn’t. It’s in the neighboring Boone county. I guess the proximity and all the ensuing connections trip me up

  4. If they start building the roundabout at 116th and Allisonville Rd before they open 96th and Allisonville one, I may lose my mind. That would effectively block all ways home to Fishers from 96th & Keystone without sitting in traffic for hours………….

    1. Based on what city officials have said at public meetings, the 116th & Allisonville should not start until 96th & Allisonville is complete. Let’s hope that remains the plan.
