Based on a posting on the HSE High School Athletics Web site, HSE High School head football coach Scott May has resigned from his head coaching duties.
“I always tell kids it isn’t about them or me, it is about the team and this team will move on and be strong,” said May per the Web site posting. ” I have enjoyed raising my boys as Royals and watching them grow up at HSE. Seventeen (17) years goes too fast, but I think I need to step aside and let someone else make the calls. I look forward to spending Saturday’s with my wife watching our sons playing college football.”
HSE Athletic Director Jim Self issued the following statement, posted on the Web:
“Coach May is a heck of a football coach and an even better man, he and I have been friends since 1992 when we taught and coached together at Bloomington South. Scott has been a part of our football program for 17 years, 11 years as our head coach. He has been blessed to get to coach both his boys here at HSE and I know he and Kathy are excited to be able to go watch them play next year. I am very thankful for Coach May’s leadership with our football program and in our athletic department. Scott will be a tremendous resource as we look to hire our next head football coach.”
